Deep into learning about Violet Trefusis's life. She needs a 21st century re-release of her works. In the edition I have of her letters to Sackville-West has an introduction by Mitchell Leaska which is so wildly homophobic! Other books I've read about them paint their husbands as poor suffering men though they were abusive towards their wives. Glendinning's biography of Sackville-West is awful towards Violet as well. I am so glad that at least the letters survive and can be read separately (though Violet's husband Denys burned some of them!).
You're welcome! I got my first anti-feminst/anti-woke troll today, so everyone (especially my fellow feminist lesbians) loving this means so much to me. 💜
Reading this just made my day! I also agree that falling in love later in life can make for the best combinations of passion/calmness: I had many relationships but didn’t find the love of my life until I was in my early 40’s - he happens to be a man, but the partnership we’ve forged definitely defies hetero-expectations. 😊 Thank you for sharing these women’s love (and gorgeous prose!). 🌺
This is my Roman Empire thank you

It is a pity (the anti-Violet stance, and the homophobia).
You might enjoy the blog I linked (https://www.helenenera.com/les-faunesses/violet-trefusis-episode-1-la-declassee/), she's very sympathetic to Violet Trefusis. It's in French, so translate unless you can read French.
This is a treasure. ❤️
Glad you liked it…and thank you so much!!

Happy that you enjoyed it :)
does anyone write love letters at all anymore? regardless of gender.
Yes. I have two friends (both male) who send me letters and postcards via slow mail.
Glad you liked the letters :)
